FAQs
How do I sign up for lessons?
We are so excited for you to join us! Simply go to our lesson page and sign up using our square calendar. Our release form will also be listed there. Feel free to fill that out, or we will have an extra one when you come for your lesson!
Should I join a group lesson or should I do private lessons?
Ultimately, I believe people learn more in a group setting. You can learn from watching other people and you get more time to practice things on your own. However, if you are just starting out, I would recommend starting with half-hour or hour private lessons. Once you are comfortable saddling and guiding your horse on your own, we can help you join a great group of people!
Should I start English or Western?
It’s ultimately up to you and your goals. However, if asked my opinion, I start everyone off western and then move on to English, if desired. The reason being, western puts you in a more comfortable seat, which allows you to learn to move and feel your horse better. It’s human nature to be stiff and tight, it is hard to learn a soft, loose feel. It’s much easier to take a loose rider and teach them the more classical position than it is to take a tighter rider and encourage them to ride in a relaxed position. I value feel and balanced riding overall.
Should I get into horse showing?
This is a goal for many riders, and not a goal for others. We have many riders that ride just for the exercise and fun, which is completely fine! We are pretty good about encouraging people to show. We try to give as many opportunities to do so. Horse Showing is not just for the ribbons. Horse shows allow you to practice what you are learning in lessons, gives you great memories, and teaches and grows your skills as a horsemen and person.
